Established in 1990, Wervel vzw – movement for healthy agriculture – is a Belgian non-governmental organisation promoting sustainable agriculture. The organisation’s goals are 1. to be a centre of expertise with a holistic view on food systems, informing agricultural and general media, policymakers and sector stakeholders, 2. to show and document the potential of agro-ecology through an international network of pioneer farmers, researchers and key stakeholders in the agricultural sector on topics such as crop rotation with legumes, agroforestry, and regenerative grazing, and 3. to be a social lab that develops innovative approaches to sustainable value chains, exploring alternative business models such as commons-based approaches with local, ecological and fair sourcing in school meals.
