Since its establishment in 2015, the Council for Research in Agriculture and the Analysis of the Agricultural Economy (CREA) has become the leading Italian research organisation dedicated to agri-food supply chains, supervised by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies. The Council’s scientific research focuses on agricultural crops, livestock, fisheries, forestry, agro-industry, food science and socio-economics. The Council has full scientific, statutory, organisational, administrative and financial autonomy.
The CREA Research Centre for Forestry and Wood specialises in the sustainable management of forests and forest plantations, especially on forest genetic resources, ecology, biometrics, applied geomatics, land planning, wood quality, and technology. The Centre aims to develop and test improved methods and techniques for forest tree breeding, monitoring, agroforestry and silviculture. The Centre is organised into four research units: Arezzo (head office), Casale Monferrato (AL), Trento and Rende (CS) and three experimental farms: Casale Monferrato (AL, 180 ha), Roma (77 ha) and Isernia (100 ha).
