Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change

IPPC has released the third part of the Sixth Assessment Report (Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change) in April.  As the report states, in 2010-2019 the average annual global greenhouse gas emissions are the highest in human history ever, which requires immediate action for emission reductions.

Agriculture provides the second largest share of mitigation potential. Besides carbon sequestration,   #Agroforestry solutions offer co-benefits such as increased land productivity, diversified livelihoods, reduced soil erosion, improved water quality and more hospitable  regional climates. The report also mentions, that agroforestry should be implemented as a support system which requires reforming existing policies, strengthening extension systems and creating market opportunities that enable adoption.

The #Agromix projects aims to develop policy options, transition scenarios and new business models to support farmers during the transition.

The IPCC report is available here, for further information on the Agormix project visit the website.
